Job purpose

The purpose of the Senior Manager Business Development role is to identify and execute high-value business development and portfolio expansion opportunities in a timely and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive business development activities in line with the Region Europe commercial agenda and overarching Global business development strategy
• Scout, evaluate and identify potential partners for business development and portfolio expansion opportunities to cover major strategic areas of growth for Sandoz in Europe, including product in- and out-licensing, co- and out-promotion, acquisitions and divestments
• Initiate and manage negotiations with potential 3rd party development and supply partners to execute on opportunities identified, optimising deal type, timelines and other agreement conditions, to maximise deal value for Europe Region and Sandoz globally
• Ensure internal cross-functional deal alignment and due diligence in line with applicable internal policies and guidelines, involving all relevant stakeholders (e.g. Commercial Operations, Regulatory, Quality, Legal, Intellectual Property, Novartis TechOps, Finance)
• Develop business cases and communication for deal management approval
• Track and provide regular reporting on activities under responsibility in line with established reporting policies and manager’s requests
• Ensure deal execution according to Global Business Development processed and guidelines
• Drive business development activities according to Region Europe strategy through close cooperation with regional portfolio and franchises
• Establish/reinforce contacts and position Sandoz as ‘Global Partner of Choice’ with key partners

Mindestanforderungen

The ideal candidate will have

• Scientific or Business academic degree or equivalent
• Fluency in English is a prerequisite, while knowledge of other languages would be an advantage
• Relevant experience in business development and licensing
• Strong experience in the pharmaceutical industry, ideally internationally
• Financial modelling and valuations skills and in-depth understanding of main financial valuation methods
• Strong hands-on approach combined with business acumen and strategic thinking
• Proven people management and cross-functional project leadership skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Strong negotiation skills
• Computer literacy
