Job purpose:
The Director of Global Data Strategy is responsible for driving the development and execution of the Sandoz ambition to turn data into a real strategic asset across the organization.
This ambition is a key pillar in the broader digital transformation happening at Sandoz and that is driven by the newly appointed Global Head of Digital at Sandoz.
The Director of Global Data Strategy will directly report and work with the Global Head of Digital as well as the broader organization to establish a more data-centric approach to how Sandoz innovates, sells and operates.

This mandate encompasses the following elements:
1) Developing the data access and acquisition strategy jointly with the GHD, the business and IT
2) Setting standards on data strategy and management across Sandoz
3) Defining the overall operating model and governing body on data strategy for Sandoz
4) Driving a cultural change in the company towards more data-centricity at all levels
5) Identifying and developing practical use cases to improve our operations and business

The Director Global Data Strategy is expected to lead and oversee the development and delivery of the above mandate and respective priority initiatives. For this, the Director Global Data Strategy will leverage the global digital budget at Sandoz to drive those initiatives together with other parts of the organization.

Your Responsibilities:
• Developing and implementing the data access and acquisition strategy
• Setting standards on data strategy and management across Sandoz
• Map and assess current processes and structures on data strategy and identify gaps and areas for improvement
• Support overall operating model and governing body on data strategy
• Build a virtual support team to support execution of the mandate and work with the business in building and recruiting de-central talent and strengthening data management capabilities
• Drive development and implementation of a change management concept in close collaboration with HR and closely aligned with the overall Sandoz digital transformation to build a more data-centered mindset, incl., capability building, change agents, talent placement

What you’ll bring to the role:

• University degree with an advanced degree in technology or data science
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
• 10 - 15 years of experience in data management and data strategy in industry
• Proven track record in building large integrated data lakes in an environment with established heritage systems
• Deep understanding and practical experience in technology around data, incl. data ingestion, API, cloud-based systems
• Broad and deep understanding of data landscape in healthcare, incl. relevance and quality of various data sources (incl., CRM, patient monitoring data, EHRs, claims data )
• Experience in setting up an ecosystem of partners bringing together various sources of data
• Leadership of use-case based implementation of data strategy in cross-organizational and cross-functional teams
• Proven track record in implementing a data strategy program from scratch in Pharma or other multinational, multi-business organizations
